In 2022, thousands of videos and photos of numerous children were found on the now 27-year-old’s cell phone.
A 27-year-old man has been charged in Finland with sexual abuse of hundreds of children online. The crimes were committed between 2019 and 2022 and affected 361 children between the ages of nine and 15, the Finnish public prosecutor’s office said on Wednesday.
Thousands of videos and photos of numerous children were discovered on the man’s cell phone in 2022 when the police were investigating the device in connection with another crime. According to investigators, the man contacted the children via the online service Snapchat and got them to take photos of themselves, barely clothed or naked. He also reportedly asked her to perform sexual acts.
During the course of the investigation, the man partially admitted the crimes. The main charges against him are particularly serious sexual child abuse, child sexual abuse and dissemination of images of children in a sexual context. The man’s trial is scheduled to begin in September. (APA/AFP)
