With the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid ul-Adha, the Progressive Reform Party (VHP) calls on the government and society to work together towards a better and stronger Suriname. The true meaning of the Feast of Sacrifice is not only a symbol of faith and spirituality, but especially of service, solidarity and making sacrifices for a higher purpose: the well-being of the country and people.
The Feast of Sacrifice is celebrated worldwide as the conclusion of the Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca. For Muslims, Eid al-Adha is an important moment of gratitude to the Creator and of reflection on the trust and obedience of Prophet Abraham. The festival commemorates sacrifice, determination and unwavering faith. In addition, it is a period of prayer, reflection, charity and solidarity with the less fortunate in society.
“By making sacrifices, working hard and remaining determined, a prosperous Suriname can be built for future generations”
The VHP emphasizes that, especially in times of economic and social challenges, Suriname’s multicultural society must show unity and brotherhood. According to the party, the Feast of Sacrifice teaches us to put aside self-interest and choose the general interest and the collective well-being of society.
The party therefore makes an emphatic appeal to the community to look at vulnerable groups and work together to support Suriname’s recovery. The responsibility for economic recovery and national development rests on the shoulders of the current government and the people of Suriname. By making sacrifices, working hard and remaining determined, a prosperous Suriname can be built for future generations.
We must follow the example of our ancestors. Their sacrifices and perseverance laid the foundation for our beloved country. In the same spirit, the current government and the people must also be prepared to serve the nation. In these difficult times we must draw strength from the message of the Feast of Sacrifice.
Through solidarity, compassion and sacrifice we can build collective well-being and sustainable prosperity for all of Suriname. Ultimately, it is about one important lesson: making sacrifices and being of service to society.
The party wishes the entire nation, but especially our Muslim brothers and sisters, a blessed Eid-ul-Adha, with much spiritual strength, blessings, purity and protection from the Almighty. May prayer and sacrifice elevate you into a better person. Eid Mubarak!
